Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the Inner West
Fun, structured kids classes that build confidence, discipline, respect, coordination and resilience — while teaching authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a safe environment. No experience needed, and every new starter is welcomed by name.
The kids program is led by our founder John-Henry Mallam, who started his own BJJ journey at the world-renowned Gracie Humaita and considers shaping the next generation of grapplers the most important job in the gym. Classes run in three age bands — Little Ninjas (3–5), Kids (5–11) and Teens (12+) — so every child trains with their own group. See the full timetable.
Every child trains in a clean white gi — uniform is included with a kids Foundation membership, so your child looks and feels part of the team from day one.

Good questions, straight answers.
What age can my child start?
From age 3. Classes run in three bands — Little Ninjas (3–5), Kids (5–11) and Teens (12+) — so children always train with kids their own age and size.
Does my child need any experience or gear?
No experience needed — that's our job. For the first class, comfortable sports clothes are fine. Join on a kids Foundation membership and their gi (uniform) is included when you pay your first 2 weeks upfront.
Is BJJ safe for kids?
Yes — classes are structured and closely supervised, with technique taught progressively in a purpose-built room on brand-new mats. BJJ is a grappling art: there's no striking, and kids learn control and respect before anything else.
How does the free trial work?
Your child does one full class on us, no commitment. Parents are welcome to watch from the floor. Book through the website and we'll call to lock in a time.
