Beginner BJJ Classes in Leichhardt

Learn the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a structured, beginner-friendly class focused on technique, confidence and fitness. No experience needed — that's our job. Yours is showing up.

We lead with the gi because it's the fastest, most sustainable way to learn and stay in the sport. Every class follows the same rhythm: warm up, learn a technique, drill it with a partner, then put it to work at your pace.

The thing we hear most from new members isn't about the jiu-jitsu — it's how welcoming the crew is. You'll be partnered with people who remember their own first class.

Questions

Good questions, straight answers.

Do I need to be fit before I start?

No — fitness is a result of training, not a requirement for it. Go at your own pace; the fitness arrives on its own.

What should I bring to my first class?

Comfortable sports clothes, a water bottle and thongs for off the mats. We'll sort the rest, and your gi is included if you join on Foundation.

How often should I train as a beginner?

Two to three classes a week is the sweet spot for progress, but plenty of members start with one. Unlimited membership means you never have to ration it.

When do I get to spar?

When you're ready. You'll drill with resistance early on, and coaches will bring you into live rounds progressively — safety and confidence first.
